Repair Technician

We are currently seeking a Repair Technician to join our 24/7 global technical support team.  You will be based out of our Buffalo, NY office, reporting to the Technical Support Manager.

This role requires an individual experienced in electronic repair, who has the ability to read and follow schematics, test procedures and instructions accurately and efficiently.  This role is ideal for someone who has testing and troubleshooting experience and is familiar with computer system components, interfaces and boot processes.  If you are someone who loves helping others, has loads of initiative and great follow through skills, this could be an exciting opportunity for you to be part of a talented team, in a fun, fast paced, late stage start up environment.   

Key Accountabilities:

  • Repair and test Customer returned units (Transmitters, Servers, Boosters, and other end-units), sub-assemblies and electronic parts
  • Conduct life test (burn-in-test) for electronic devices that have been repaired
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot test and equipment performance issues including teardown and re-assembly of electronic units
  • Work with hardware and software engineering teams to perform diagnostic testing on returned units (field failures) to determine root cause
  • Raise defects to the Hardware Engineering team for examination
  • Work with the team to establish and make available manufacturing and test fixtures to test customer returned parts
  • Support setup, installation and execution of test programs under set test plans and procedures to ensure quality control of repaired units
  • Maintain end-item and sub-assembly configuration information including logging of inventory transactions
  • Install / configure hardware and software to customer units
  • Analysis / collect and report test data on failures, components, life of field units

Experience Requirements: 

  • Previous experience in an electronic repair environment an asset
  • Able to read and follow schematics, test procedures and instructions accurately and efficiently
  • Testing and troubleshooting experience required
  • Experience with standard problem solving and decision making methodologies, good communication skills required
  • Familiar with computer system components, interfaces, and boot processes.
  • Able to load drivers, configure Windows and use common Windows applications

Educational Requirements: 

  • A relevant technician’s diploma and/or equivalent and related work experience in telecommunications industry
